I’m a Kiwi abstract-realism painter based in the United Kingdom. I paint oils on linen, board and canvas.
Art is a habit-forming drug. Marcel Duchamp
Before focusing on my art, I spent over 25 years in advertising as a copywriter and creative director. This explains why a lot of my work is conceptual in nature. I rarely start an oil painting without first having a concept and story to tell. Each painting evolves, usually to form part of a series.
My work is centred around the human spirit, experience and identity — cultural and spiritual.
I’m currently painting people in nature, in abstract-realism using oils on Belgian linen and board.
Oil is the perfect medium to capture the essence of my subjects and the surrounding light.
